Good News on Blood Test Campaign - Nicholson

A campaign by local residents, Liberal Democrat Councillors and Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson for Streatham Chris Nicholson has led to AT Medics, who run the Edith Cavell Surgery, agreeing to restore blood tests at the Edith Cavell surgery.
Under plans announced last year local residents would have to travel to St Thomas to get their blood tests.
After complaints from local residents Liberal Democrat campaigner Chris Nicholson wrote to Lambeth PCT in December urging them to take action.
In a statement this week, Lambeth PCT say that Edith Cavell Surgery has agreed to reinstate the tests.
"This is good news for local residents" commented Chris Nicholson, "More health services should be provided locally not fewer. We will be building on this campaign to check that blood tests are provided at all local surgeries with appropriate facilities. We will also be pressing for other services such as health screening to be done locally."
Chris added, "The NHS survey of most Streatham residents which we carried out at the end of last year showed that people want services provided locally, wherever possible at their GP surgeries. We will campaigning to ensure that Lambeth PCT take these views on board"
