Whilst welcoming the Government decision to give the go ahead to the East London Line extension connecting Clapham Junction with Docklands, Chris Nicholson has criticised the fact that the train will not stop in Brixton.
"People I have spoken to in Brixton cannot understand why the train will not stop there." commented Chris, who discussed the plans with local people and Lib Dem MEP Sarah Ludford in Brixton at the weekend.
"It is a dreadful case of penny pinching by the Government. And this comes on top of the decision by Boris Johnson to drop plans for the Cross River tram to go to Brixton. Brixton is losing out in terms of improved public transport links from both Labour and Tories. These are precisely the sort of infrastructure projects which would provide a much needed boost to the economy, improve public transport and help the environment by getting more cars off the roads."
