The Streatham Hub development, involving the provision of a new ice rink and leisure centre on Streatham High Rd, is under review by Tesco and has led to fears that they may scrap the scheme. The revelation comes from Detlev Munster the Council officer responsible for the development in an email to local Councillors and others. The threat to leisure facilities are also highlighted in a report to Lambeth's Cabinet to be considered on July 27th.
Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman for Streatham Chris Nicholson commented, "Years of Labour dithering has meant that the Streatham Hub project is now under threat. When Labour were elected to run Lambeth in 2006 the deal was on the verge of being signed and the new ice rink and leisure centre were due to be open by 2010. Now as a result of Labour's incompetence, the whole project is at risk. Once again, Labour are letting down Streatham"
