Chris Nicholson is calling for an urgent meeting with Royal Mail bosses about the continuing poor service provided to local residents in the Streatham constituency which covers Streatham and parts of Clapham, Brixton and Balham.
"I am getting increasing numbers of complaints from residents apart the poor service they are getting - court papers not being received, Christmas presents going missing and contact lenses being delivered weeks after they were posted. It is very clear that the Royal Mail in this area is not delivering the standard of service which residents deserve" said Chris.
He has written to Royal Mail Managing Director Mark Higson asking for a meeting to highlight problems experienced by residents and to find out what Royal Mail are planning to do to improve the poor service being provided. During last year's Royal Mail strikes a huge backlog of post built up in local delivery offices but it appears that the service is still poor. Concerns have been heightened by the undercover investigation by Channel 4 'Dispatches' broadcast last week which revealed agency staff being used by Royal Mail in the Streatham area not knowing what they were doing and where they were going.
Chris added "The Channel Four investigation was deeply worrying and helps explain why so much mail is going missing and being misdelivered. Royal Mail really needs to sharpen up its act. I would urge residents who have experienced problems with Royal Mail to contact me at chris@chrisnicholson.org.uk so I can raise their concerns with Royal Mail bosses".
Labour have allowed the Royal Mail's poor service in our area continue. In our area, with the Conservatives out of the race, only a vote for the Liberal Democrats will improve local services.
