At a meeting with Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Streatham Chris Nicholson. Royal Mail boss Paul Wood claimed that the postal service in Streatham, Brixton and Clapham is now 'back to normal'. The meeting was demanded by Chris Nicholson following complaints by local residents, echoed by comments to the Streatham Guardian, that mail was often taking several weeks to arrive or was misdelivered.Whilst acknowledging that the service had been poor at the end of last year due to strike action, and at the start of this year due to the bad weather, Area Manager Paul Wood said the service had been back to normal since the end of January.
Chris Nicholson said "Whilst I am pleased that the service has got better since the end of January I do not think what Royal Mail think is 'normal service' is good enough. I am still getting complaints from residents about post going missing, arriving very late or being misdelivered. I also think it is wrong that Royal Mail should shelter behind commercial confidentiality in refusing to make local performance data available. We have a right to know what service quality we are getting"
