Labour in Streatham do everything Gordon Brown wants

Labour in Streatham do everything Gordon Brown wants them to.

The Streatham constituency has had a Labour MP since 1992. Britain has been run by a Labour government since 1997. But what has Labour done for Streatham, Brixton, or Clapham?

The whole country is in the grip of an economic crisis. Gordon Brown has been in charge of the British economy for over a decade. He must take some responsibility for the problems we're facing.

Streatham has been taken for granted by Labour. The Labour MP for Streatham has done exactly what Tony Blair and Gordon Brown wanted. He has consistently voted for Government policy even when it's not been in the interests of people here.

It's time for a change. People in our area are turning to the Liberal Democrats .

Voting for whatever Gordon Brown wants

The Labour MP has backed the Government on key issues going to war in Iraq, bringing in ID cards, and student fees. He also voted to stop MPs' expenses being made public under the Freedom of Information Act. According to independent website TheyWorkForYou.com, he has :

  • Voted strongly against a transparent Parliament.
  • Voted very strongly for introducing ID cards.
  • Voted strongly for introducing student top-up fees.
  • Voted very strongly for the Iraq war.
  • Voted very strongly against an investigation into the Iraq war.

Left behind and taken for granted

At the same time our area's been left behind. Way back in 1992, the current Labour MP was campaigning for the tube to come to Streatham. You'd think that after 12 years of Labour government and 8 years of a Labour Mayor of London, the Labour Party might have got around to extending the tube. But no - the new Labour candidate is still promising he'll bring the Tube to Streatham! Do you really believe that if Labour are re-elected they'll finally get round to it?

Only the Liberal Democrats offer a real change to Labour in Streatham.
