Tooting Bec Common as it is now.

Streatham Liberal Democrats have joined with local residents to fight plans by Wandsworth Council to build up to 12 flood lit, hard surface, fenced off football pitches on Tooting Bec Common. Local Liberal Democrats have been going door to door informing local residents of the detail of the plans and collecting a petition opposing it.

'Residents are understandably outraged at this proposal by Wandsworth Council and have rushed to sign our petition' said Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson for Streatham who has helped organise the petition.'

And how it may look if Wandsworth Council's plans go ahead.

'Wandsworth Council seem to be doing this to raise funds to refurbish a local playground but we must not let them us this as an excuse to destroy this valuable open space. They should find the money from elsewhere. Liberal Democrat Councillors will be urging Lambeth Council to protest in the strongest possible terms to Wandsworth and to demand that they drop this plan'
