Rising unemployment in Streatham leads to call for Brixton Hill Job Centre to be re-opened

As unemployment tops 2 million nationally, and official figures show that the number of unemployed claimants in Streatham has risen by over 30% in the last year, Chris Nicholson has called for the re-opening of the Brixton Hill Job Centre which closed earlier this month.

"At a time when unemployment is soaring both nationally and locally it is folly to be cutting access to services which help to get job seekers back to work," says Chris. "Through no fault of their own many people are losing their jobs and the Government should be doing all it can to help them find work - not closing job centres!"
