Chris Nicholson is widely tipped to be the next MP for our area. But who is he really?

Chris was born in 1958, and grew up in Manchester's inner-city Moss Side area. His mother was a teacher and his father was a Baptist minister.

Real life experience

Chris first got involved with politics when he was volunteering for a drug rehabilitation charity in Kingston. He found the Council was wrecking the town centre so he got involved with a campaign to save it. A year later he was elected to the Council - and within four years he was Leader of the Council at the age of just 28.

Family Life

A few years later, Chris stepped down from politics to focus on his family life and a career in business. He and his wife adopted four children, and he became a partner at a major accountancy firm. Chris is an expert on public sector policy, and has advised successive Governments, Ministers and Civil Servants. Chris has also acted as a special advisor to Parliamentary Select Committees.

Living locally

Chris suffered the death of his wife many years ago, and now lives in Clapham with his fiancee Trisha. He's a member of All Nations Baptist Church, Clapham Park, and is also a member of Clapham Common ward's Safer Neighbourhood Panel.

Chris has the right experience to be our local MP. He's already has a successful career in politics and in business, and has the background to speak up for local people on the issues that matter. He's not the kind of person to toe the Party line.
